Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage that unfolds in the lap of the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, taking pilgrims to the four holy shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. This journey is considered one of the most auspicious and spiritually fulfilling experiences for Hindus, symbolizing a path to moksha or salvation.
The Chota Char Dham Yatra, a mini-circuit in Uttarakhand, includes the pilgrimage sites of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Each shrine dedicated to a specific deity must be visited in a specific order, adding a layer of spiritual significance to the journey.
The pilgrimage is not just a physical one; it’s a spiritual odyssey. Amidst the breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, flowing rivers, and majestic temples, pilgrims undergo a transformative experience. The journey unfolds as follows:
The Char Dham Yatra usually spans from April to November, involving walking, trekking, and climbing. Pilgrims can choose various modes of transportation, including foot, helicopter, or road, depending on their fitness level and preferences.
Depart from Haridwar at 7 am, embarking on an exciting journey to Phoolchatti with a scenic stopover in Barkot. Enjoy picturesque landscapes along the way. After a delightful lunch, reach Phoolchatti by 5:30 pm. Check into the hotel, unwind, have dinner, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Start at 6 am, trek to Yamunotri (10 km round trip) after breakfast at Jankichatti. Take a holy dip, offer prayers, and perform puja at the Yamunotri temple. Return to Phoolchatti by evening, spending the night in a comfortable guest house or hotel.
Fresh start at 6 am, breakfast halt in Barkot. Visit Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi, departing post lunch. Reach the beautiful Harsil by 5 pm, spend the night amidst tranquil surroundings.
Commence at 6 am, breakfast halt in Gangotri. Experience the divine atmosphere and a holy dip at Gangotri temple. Depart from Gangotri post-lunch, reach Uttarkashi by 4:30 pm, spend the night in serene ambiance.
Start at 6 am, enjoy breakfast in Chinyalisaur. Explore New Tehri, witness the Tehri Dam's grandeur, and have lunch in Srinagar. Reach Guptkashi by 5:30 pm, concluding the day.
Embark on a bus journey followed by a 17 km trek to Kedarnath. Depart by bus at 6 am, arrive at Gaurikund by 9 am. Commence the trek at 10 am, reach Kedarnath by 5 pm. Witness the evening aarti, retire for the night.
Early start, prayers at Kedarnath temple, followed by breakfast. Trek back to Gaurikund/Rampur (17 km), arriving by 1 pm. Board the bus to Tilwara, spend the night rejuvenating for the next day.
Set off for Joshimath, covering 170 km, reach by 12 pm. Halt for breakfast in Gauchar, visit the Narsing temple, and depart by 1 pm. Reach Badrinath by 4:30 pm, immerse in the evening aarti, and spend the night surrounded by divine blessings.
Morning prayers and a holy dip at Badrinath temple. Explore Mana, the last Indian village. Arrive in Joshimath, lunch at GMVN rest house, depart around 2 pm, reach Kaleshwar in the evening. Optionally, visit Auli by cable car for an extra touch of adventure.
Begin the final day with a bus ride covering 230 km. Depart from Kaleshwar at 7 am, lunch halt at Kaudiyala at 1 pm. Reach Haridwar by 5 pm, marking the end of the memorable 10-day Char Dham Yatra. Departure concludes the expedition with cherished memories.
